The kitchen space was redesigned to encapsulate an industrial look with a high level of customization. The project began with the removal of the existing kitchen and the demolition of a stud wall to merge the kitchen with the utility area. To accommodate the new design, timber was installed in the ceiling for a secure hanging extractor fixture, and a small window was blocked and insulated to optimize space.
The bespoke green laminated birch plywood worktops and island panels stood out, paired seamlessly with black metal upstands and tap basing, creating a bold and cohesive aesthetic. The installation of a 600 x 220 height white Belfast sink added a touch of traditional charm, while the 600mm Liebherr integrated fridge pull out and side door open mechanisms offered state-of-the-art functionality.
Advanced kitchen appliances, including a Bosch single oven, microwave, and dishwasher, were integrated along with a Fohen hot water tap pull out for immediate hot water access. The ceiling-mounted black round extractor provided effective ventilation, maintaining the kitchen’s clean lines.
Structural modifications included acro propping existing ceiling joists, removing a supporting wall, and blocking an existing doorway to install an RSJ steel beam for structural integrity. Plastering work was carried out meticulously around the new installations and where the old kitchen was removed, ensuring a smooth finish.
Electrics were updated with a modern industrial touch: black matt high-level double sockets and USB sockets, LED lighting under the shelving units, and necessary electrical points for the appliances. Customer-supplied items such as the hot water tap, worktops, induction hob, extractor, pop-up sockets, and flat wall light were expertly installed.
Custom black steel base and wall shelving units with mesh sides, backs, and bottoms were manufactured to the client’s specifications, enhancing the industrial theme. This transformation seamlessly combined bespoke craftsmanship with modern industrial design, creating a unique and functional kitchen space tailored to the client’s vision.
